A biometric check-in kiosk does not ask for a name or booking reference. It identifies the patient by their face and ID chip in under 2 seconds — then routes them straight to the right doctor without a single typed character.
Manual identity verification at the front desk takes 45–90 seconds per patient and introduces transcription errors, name confusion, and privacy risks. Biometric check-in eliminates all three simultaneously while being faster and more accurate than any manual process.
Patient looks at the kiosk camera. The kiosk captures the face and compares it against the photo extracted from the NFC ID chip. Match result in under 500 ms. Raw face image never stored by default.
Anti-spoofing check rejects printed photos and screen replays. Passive liveness — no action prompts required. Works with glasses, masks partially removed, and low-light conditions.
APDU reads the biometric chip on Malaysian MyKad and international biometric passports. Reads photo, name, date of birth, and ID number from the chip — not from OCR of the printed surface.
For clinics that opt into biometric retention: returning patients are recognised automatically the moment they approach the kiosk. Check-in is a single confirmation tap.
The kiosk validates MRZ checksum, chip authenticity signature, and document expiry before accepting the ID. Tampered or expired documents are flagged for staff review.
Every biometric verification event is logged with timestamp, confidence score, document type, and outcome. Audit-ready for regulatory inspection. Retention period configurable per jurisdiction.
Sub-2-second identity verification end-to-end
False reject rate below 0.5% across 174 national ID formats
Zero biometric data transmitted to cloud by default
Document fraud detection: flagged 100% of test tampered IDs in validation runs
Biometric check-in runs TensorFlow Lite face-match and liveness models on the RK3566 NPU. The biometric reference is the photo extracted from the ID chip — no separate enrolment session required. Face match score and liveness confidence are logged; raw frames are discarded immediately after the match completes. For installations that require repeat-patient biometric retention, encrypted biometric templates are stored in the clinic's own database with PDPA / HIPAA-compliant retention policies.
By default, no. The face capture is used for the immediate match and then discarded. Clinics can opt into encrypted biometric template storage for repeat-patient recognition, but that is off by default.
The kiosk offers a manual fall-back (name + date of birth lookup) after two failed face-match attempts. Staff can also assist from the front-desk terminal. No patient is ever turned away by a biometric failure.
Partial mask coverage degrades accuracy. For full-mask patients, the NFC tap-only flow identifies the patient from the chip without a face match. Clinics can configure the fallback threshold.
Yes. Biometric data processing under GDPR requires explicit consent (captured at first visit) and a documented legitimate interest or contract. PDPA in Malaysia similarly requires consent. MOVO-X ships the consent flow, retention policy, and deletion mechanism.
Yes. For patients whose ID chip has been successfully read and matched, the card scan step is redundant. The kiosk confirms identity, assigns the visit, and prints the ticket without any card scan.
