A pharmacy check-in kiosk ends the counter cluster. Patients tap in their prescription reference or scan the QR on their receipt, join a virtual queue, and receive a WhatsApp ping when their medication is ready — no standing at the counter required.
Pharmacy counters are the most common cause of post-consultation wait time in hospitals. Patients discharged from consultation join an undifferentiated queue behind OTC customers. A check-in kiosk separates prescription collection from OTC service and virtualises the queue so patients can sit down.
Patient enters prescription reference, date of birth, or scans the QR code from their prescription receipt. Prescription is pulled from the dispensing system automatically.
Prescription collection, pharmacist consultation, and OTC service queues are managed independently. Patients assigned to the correct queue at check-in without staff assistance.
Patient receives a WhatsApp message when their prescription is dispensed and ready for collection. Includes a bay number so they know exactly where to pick up.
High-risk medication patients flagged for mandatory pharmacist counselling are routed to the consultation queue automatically. Counselling status tracked in the dispensing system.
Current dispensing queue load and estimated wait time displayed on the kiosk at check-in. Patients can leave the pharmacy area and return when called.
Direct integration with Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), hospital dispensing systems, and retail pharmacy software. Prescription status syncs in real-time from the dispensing workstation.
Average pharmacy wait-time perception reduced by 60% (patients leave the queue area)
Counter cluster eliminated in hospitals deploying pharmacy check-in
Mandatory counselling compliance reaches 100% via automatic routing
Patient satisfaction scores for pharmacy service improve significantly
Pharmacy check-in integrates with dispensing systems via HL7 FHIR MedicationDispense resources or direct database integration for systems that do not support FHIR. The WebSocket push from the dispensing workstation to the patient's WhatsApp happens within 5 seconds of the dispense event. WhatsApp message uses an approved MOVO-X template with prescription reference and bay number interpolated at runtime.
Integration is recommended for the best experience (automated prescription lookup and ready notification), but the kiosk can operate in stand-alone mode where the pharmacist manually triggers the ready notification.
The ready notification is sent via WhatsApp by default. Patients without WhatsApp are offered SMS as an alternative. A display board in the waiting area also shows queue numbers being served.
Yes. Repeat prescription patients are identified at check-in (by prescription reference or patient ID) and routed to a fast-lane collection queue separate from first-time prescription patients.
For controlled substance collection, the kiosk can require face match or NFC ID verification before assigning the queue ticket. The pharmacist receives an identity-confirmed flag in the dispensing system.
Yes. MOVO-X supports multi-location retail pharmacy deployments with centralised patient profiles, per-location queue management, and a pharmacy operations dashboard.
